MANILA, Philippines – Despite similar intelligence reports of various government personalities and agencies, the National Bureau of Investigation is still verifying the veracity of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor’s alleged escape from the country.

“We are still confirming the veracity, the truthfulness of the report, we are still contacting yung aming personal knowledge na makausap ‘yung Immigration officers ng Malaysia and Indonesia,” NBI Director Jaime Santiago said in an interview Wednesday.

“As of now, balita pa lang, documents but then wala pang nag-tetestify that they personally saw Alice Guo there,” he said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sen. Risa Hontiveros announced that the search for Guo has already been elevated to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) through its Philippine counterpart Philippine Center for Transnational Crime.

Hontiveros said this means the Interpol now has official watch on Guo, her siblings Sheila Leal Guo and Wesley Leal Guo and Lucky South 99 authorized representative Katherine Cassandra Li Ong, Ong and can now determine what proper actions to take against them.

The Interpol releases eight different kinds of notices requesting for international cooperation or alerts allowing police in member countries to share critical crime-related information. Among them are Red Notices which “seek the location and arrest of persons wanted for prosecution or to serve a sentence” and the Blue Notices which “collect additional information about a person’s identity, location or activities in relation to a criminal investigation.”

“Kung nakalusot siya, eh nakakahinala bakit siya nakalabas but then ang next move namin is to request yung counterparts namin na magkaroon ng blue notice,” Santiago said.

Santiago said the NBI will also be summoning lawyer Elmer Galicia, the notary public who testified to have seen Guo personally when she applied for notarization services for request to dismiss her human trafficking charges.

“We will summon or subpoena Atty. Galicia if he is telling the truth,” said Santiago.
