MANILA, Philippines — Because of multiple marital affairs and engaging in sexual acts with his house helpers, a lawyer’s license was revoked by the state, the Supreme Court said.

In a 24-page ruling, the SC said the lawyer admitted to having extramarital affairs with at least three women during his marriage, completely ignoring his vows.

The High Court did not name the lawyer.

“In a Per Curiam Decision, the Supreme Court En Banc has disbarred a lawyer for grossly immoral conduct, in violation of the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability,” it said.

Under Canon VI, Section 33(f) of the CPRA, grossly immoral conduct is defined as an act that is so corrupt or deceitful that it constitutes a criminal offense.

The court revealed that the disbarred lawyer entered into a bigamous marriage, fathered two illegitimate children, and sexually harassed his house helper and law secretary by displaying pornographic materials. He also admitted engaging in sexually explicit conversations with them.

The Court imposed the maximum penalty of disbarment for the first two counts and a suspension for the last two. However, due to his disbarment for the first count, the latter penalties could no longer be applied.

He was fined over P400,001.

“The penalties for the second to fourth counts of Grossly Immoral Conduct will be seriously considered if he applies for reinstatement and judicial clemency,” the SC said.
