MANILA, Philippines – Senators have filed multiple resolutions seeking to award two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo a Medal of Excellence for his historic feat at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Over the weekend, the champion Filipino gymnast made every Filipino all over the world scream in happiness after he ruled supreme on the floor exercises and vault in the men’s artistic gymnastics competition making him the first Filipino to win multiple gold medals in one Olympics.
Sen. Francis Tolentino filed Senate Resolution Numbers (SRN) 1102 for Yulo’s two-time gold win and 1106. SRN 1102 seeks to give Yulo the Senate Medal of excellence.
“Ang tagumpay ni Caloy ay hindi lamang patunay ng kanyang dedikasyon at kahusayan, kundi pati na rin ng galing at talento ng mga Pilipino sa pandaigdigang entablado!” Tolentino said on Facebook.
Sen. Jinggoy Estrada filed a similar resolution, SRN 1103.
“Napakalaking karangalan para sa bansa ang tagumpay ni Carlos at nagsisilbi itong inspirasyon sa kakayahan nating Pinoy na makipag-sabayan at makipag-tagisan ng galing sa mga pinaka-mahuhusay na atleta sa buong mundo,” Estrada said on Facebook.
Several senators also congratulated Yulo on his back-to-back win.
Among them were Sen. Risa Hontiveros, Sen. Bong Go and Sen. Pia Cayetano.
