The 7th Edition of the Entertainment Editors’ Choice Awards or the The Eddy’s held at the Ceremonial Hall, Marriott Grand Ballroom, Newport World Resorts in Pasay City on July 7 has just concluded and actors Piolo Pascual, Julia Montes and Charlie Dizon emerge the big winners as the Best Actor and Best Actresses. 

“Nanginginig pa rin ako. I was not expecting to win, so forgive me for shaking. I share this award to all the nominees— Romnick Sarmenta, you are my best actor,” Pascual said in his speech.

“I hold this close to my heart because it comes from friends in the industry.  Thank you so much as we celebrate Philippine Cinema, I am reminded of the task we have at hand to not just celebrate but carry on. We are living a good trail to be inspired with what we do… Para sa pelikulang Pilipino,” he added.

Pascual made a powerful portrayal of three main characters; 19th century Catholic priest and serial killer Father Juan Severino Mallari and his descendants postwar guy Johnrey and contemporary era doctor Jonathan in the movie “Mallari,” an entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023. 

Meanwhile, Montes was recognized for “Five Breakups and a Romance” while Dizon was commended for her acting in the flick “Third World Romance.”  

“Nominado pa lang ang sarap na sa pakiramdam, itong parangal ngayon sobrang nakaka-inspire mas lalo pag butihan,” Montes said in her speech.

Enchong Dee was the night’s “Best Supporting Actor” for his role in the blockbuster historical film “GomBurZa” while Gladys Reyes was “Best Supporting Actress” for her role in the movie “Apag.”

Best Cinematography: Juan Lorenzo Orendain of (Mallari)

Best Production Design:  Mariel Hizon (Mallari)

Box Office Heroes: Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Piolo Pascual, Alden Richards, Julia Montes and Kathryn Bernardo.

Movie Icon Awardees: Nova Villa, Leo Martinez, Lito Lapid, Eva Darren and Gina Alajar

Rising Producer of the Year: Bryan Dy, Mentorque Productions 

Best Supporting Actor:  Enchong Dee (Gomburza)

Best Supporting Actress: Gladys Reyes (Apag)

Best Screenplay: Jun Robles Lana of (About Us But Not About Us)
