MANILA, Philippines – Like it or not, he is a hands-on executive. Well, that’s how he wanted the public to see him.

President Marcos Jr. boarded  a military truck Thursday morning, heading off to personally check on the condition of the victims of Typhoon Carina and Habagat that battered the country’s capital region Wednesday.

His first stop was Barangay Malanday in Valenzuela City.

Together with some military personnel, Marcos distributed relief goods to the evacuees in Valenzuela.

Most of the city remains submerged in water, with chest-high floods in some areas, following the overflow of the La Mesa Dam yesterday.

According to the state weather bureau, Typhoon Carina had already left the Philippine Area of Responsibility but would still enhance the southwest monsoon Habagat as it heads off to Taiwan.

The onslaught of the relentless rains left 14 dead and about a million affected according to the National Risk Reduction and Management Council.
