MANILA, Philippines – THE Bureau of Animal Industry disproved reports saying that a Bird Flu outbreak has been detected in Tarlac as they have not received any official report from local authorities in the province informing them of such incident.

“The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) is aware of recent reports circulating in the media regarding a supposed bird flu outbreak in Tarlac. We would like to clarify that the BAI has not received any official report of such an outbreak from the local authorities in Tarlac,” it said.

On Monday, a report circulated about chickens at a farm in Tarlac died while being transported. Upon inspection, the chickens tested positive with Bird Flu as stated by the Philippine Egg Board Association.

According to the BAI, there are no confirmed laboratory results reported in the area and that the last confirmed case in the province was in December 2023.

“The BAI Animal Diagnosis and Reference Laboratory (ADDRL) is the sole authority to officially detect and confirm positive cases of bird flu through standardized testing protocols,” BAI said.
