MANILA, Philippines — At least 10 people reportedly died due to Tropical Storm Enteng (international name: Yagi) that caused massive flooding in several areas in the country, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Tuesday.

In a report, the NDRRMC said that the highest number of fatalities were reported in CALABARZON with seven deaths, two in Central Visayas and one in Western Visayas.

Aside from the confirmed fatalities, Typhoon Enteng also left 10 people injured in Luzon and Visayas.

Tropical Storm Enteng affected 147,024 people, with 38,058 needing to evacuate. Bicol had the most impact, with 85,856 people affected, followed by Metro Manila with 41,998.

Here was the NDRRMC’s count of affected individuals in the country as of writing:

  • Bicol – 85,856
  • National Capital Region – 41,998 
  • Central Luzon – 16,866
  • Calabarzon – 1,581
  • Western Visayas – 660 
  • Central Visayas – 63

The NDRRMC reported 157 flooded areas, four rain-induced landslides, and three collapsed structures. About 54 roads and two bridges were still closed. 

The Department of Public Works and Highways said in a separate report that at least 11 roads in CALABARZON were either closed or restricted to heavy vehicles due to massive flooding.

Among the roads closed and with restricted access, according to DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, were the following:

Road closures:

Rizal Province:

1. Manila East Road: Affected sections include Barangay San Juan in Morong, Barangay Gamo and Tandang Kutyo in Tanay, and Barangay Takungan and Bagumbayan in Pililla.

2. JP Rizal Street in Baras.

3. Sagbat Pililla Diversion Road in Barangay Maybancal, Morong.

Roads with limited access:

Cavite:

1. General Evangelista Road in Barangay Maliksi I, Bacoor City.

Rizal:

1. Imelda Avenue in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Cainta.

2. Cainta Kaytickling Antipolo Teresa Road (near Philhealth) in Barangay San Juan, Taytay.

3. Manila East Road (Taytay Bayan) in Barangay San Isidro, Taytay.

4. San Mateo-Rodriguez Road: Affected sections include Barangay Ampid, Dulong Bayan, and Maly in San Mateo, and Barangay Mangahan in Montalban.

5. Tanay Sampaloc Road in Barangay Plaza, Aldea.

6. Rodriguez San Jose Quezon City Road in Barangay San Jose, Montalban.

Motorists are advised to avoid these areas due to flooding and to seek alternate routes where possible, according to the DPWH.
