MANILA, Philippines – The National Bureau of Investigation’s theory as to the Guo family’s Philippine exit has the closest possibility to entry into the southernmost tip of the archipelago also known as the backdoor, located in Bongao, municipality of Tawi-Tawi according to Director Jaime Santiago.

With Shiela Guo, sister of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Alice Guo at the Senate Committee on Justice subcommittee hearing Tuesday, the NBI theory gets quite established with her admission that she, together with siblings, Wesley and the former mayor escaped the Philippines via a series of boat rides going to Malaysia.

“Yung sinasabi niya nag biyahe sila ng 4-6 hours via banka papuntang Malaysia. Ang teorya po namin diyan ay parang sumakay sila ng banka, speed boat sa bandang Bongao, Tawi-tawi,” Santiago said in the hearing.

Santiago said however that this was only a theory and they have yet to prove that this has been the route of the Guo siblings.

“Meron po tayong port sa Bunggaw, municipality ng Tawi-Tawi pero ‘pag sumakay sila through the ferry boat na namomonitor natin yung port talaga natin,” Santiago said.

Santiago said it would take about 10-12 hours of travel to reach Malaysia from the Philippine backdoor but even then passports would still have to be stamped.

“It will take them 10-12 hours pero magkakaron po ng marka ang kanyang passport pero dahil po walang marka ang kanyang passport ng labas niya sa Pilipinas,” Santiago said.

“Ay ang theory nga namin ay gumamit nga ng backdoor, nag byahe sila ng 4-6 hours via banka, speed boat from Bongao to Sabbah. Yun po ang pinaka malapit sa Sabbah,” he said.

While Shiela answered the questions of the senator, she however failed to give concrete details as to the exact route they traveled. She only described what she experienced–traveling from boat to boat.
