There is no doubt, suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is 2024’s breakout star. She is the Senate’s current apple of the eye as it looks into her possible connection with illegal offshore gaming centers raided in her town. But in the middle of all the probe, she made newfound stardom thanks to her iconic lines that had the entire internet laughing to its knees.

Let’s look back at some of the most unforgettable lines of Mayor Alice Guo that went viral on social media.

  1. “Hindi ko na po maalala, your honor.”

Questions like her age when her birth was registered, why her birth was registered late, exactly where she was born, DepEd recognition about her homeschooling, record of graduation, first time to leave the country and even  all merited this line for an answer from Mayor Guo.

  1. “Lumaki po ako sa farm”

One of the most iconic scenes in the Guo hearing was during the questioning of Sen. Loren Legarda about vital information about her younger years.

The senator could not help raise her voice when she asked the mayor to recite some of her childhood recollections, in more times than can be remembered, she would simply say, “lumaki po ako sa farm” promoting the lawmaker to say “paulit-ulit naman, parang memoryado niyo, ‘wag tayong robot.”

  1. “Sarili kong ina iniwanan ako, ngayon ‘yung sarili ko bang bansa tatalikuran ako?”

When evidence disproving her FIlipino citizenship kept piling, like the discovery of Chinese national Guo Hua Ping whose finger print matched with her, news of a possible deportation floated. The mayor kept on pressing that she is a Filipino and that she holds only one passport, hence the line in her interview with broadcast journalist Karen Davila, “Sarili kong ina iniwanan ako, ngayon ‘yung sarili ko bang bansa tatalikuran ako?”

  1. “Wala po akong boyfriend, wala po akong asawa, wala po akong karelasyon”

It was revealed in the Senate that Guo was living with a guy who was connected with operations of illegal offshore gaming centers. The Mayor however denied having one. This line in particular has made rounds on social media as a meme about singlehood.

  1. “Nakakahiya na hindi ka nag-aral”

In the same interview with Davila, she explained why she held off on some details in the Senate hearing. Among the most questionable parts of her confession is the part that she was homeschooled. She said she was tutored in her farm by a certain Teacher Rubilyn all her life.

Why? Simple. “Nakakahiya na hindi ka nag-aral.”
