MANILA, Philippines – A man died possibly of electric shock in Manila Wednesday as southwest monsoon Habagat, enhanced by Typhoon Carina battered the National Capital Region resulting in massive floods rendering most roads impassable.

According to a Manila Police District report, the incident happened at around 2:30 p.m. at the height of relentless rains and waist-high floods all over.

At about 3:30 p.m., the MPD received a call that a man, identified as David Gerona y Lipon, 32, from Delpan St. Tondo reportedly suffered from an electric shock.

Residents nearby had come to the rescue and called the police.

Gerona was immediately brought to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Hospital Emergency Room by his brother Juni Lipon but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The actual incident was even caught on video. In the clip, a body was seen floating upside down in shin-high water with his face almost submerged. His arm was up, his hand tightly clasped, likely suggesting he was electrocuted.
