MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat on Thursday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

State seismologists reported in an earthquake advisory that the tremor occurred at 10:13 AM, approximately 133 kilometers (km) west of Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.

The tectonic quake had a depth focus of 722 kilometers, it added.

In a separate advisory, there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines following the earthquake, the seismology bureau said.

PHIVOLCS reported that Intensity IV was felt in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.

Meanwhile, Intensity III was recorded in City of Mati, Davao Oriental and Glan, Sarangani and Intensity II in areas including Maragusan, Davao De Oro; City of Tagum, Davao Del Norte, Libungan, and Tulunan, Cotabato; Kiamba, Maitum, and Malapatan, Sarangani; City of Koronadal, South Cotabato, and City of General Santos

On the other hand, Intensity I was felt in Davao City, Tantangan, South Cotabato, and Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.

PHIVOLCS also released instrumental intensities for the following areas:

Intensity III – Don Marcelino, and Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental; Glan, and Malungon, Sarangani

Intensity II – City of Tagum, Davao Del Norte; City of Digos, Davao Del Sur; Matalam, Cotabato; and City of Cotabato

Intensity I – Nabunturan, Davao De Oro; City of Davao; City of Kidapawan, Cotabato; Maitum, Sarangani; T’Boli, and Tampakan, South Cotabato, Bagumbayan, Esperanza, Isulan, Kalamansig, Lambayong, and Lebak, Sultan Kudarat; City of Bislig, Surigao Del Sur
