MANILA, Philippines — The 2025 Senatorial polls will be filled with three Dutertes after Vice President Sara Duterte confirmed that his father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, and his brothers Davao 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte, and Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte will be running for elections next year.
“Lahat sila raring na tumakbo eh. Si PRRD (President Rodrigo Roa Duterte) senator, ‘yung kuya ko si Paolo Duterte, ‘yung congressman ngayon, senator. Si Sebastian Duterte,” she said.
“Tatlo ang Duterte next year… yes, confirmed ‘yan,” she added.
Moreover, Sara said in Bisaya that Mayor Duterte is vying for the presidential post in the 2028 national and local elections.
She also quashed speculations of resigning from her position as Vice President following her resignation as Secretary of Education and Co-Vice Chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
Her resignation is effective July 19.
Since January, the Dutertes have begun making headlines after following the alleged rift between the Marcoses, Sara’s presidential counterpart for the “Uniteam” tandem.
It could be recalled that speculations arose even more regarding the alleged Uniteam split when First Lady Liza Marcos told in an interview that she had ill feelings towards VP Duterte after the attended the rally in January and laughed when President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. was called “bangag” (high on drugs).
A few weeks ago, VP Duterte told reporters that Uniteam was only good for the 2022 presidential and vice-presidential elections, confirming speculations that the uniteam was no longer intact.
