MANILA, Philippines – Ilocos Norte on Monday joined the roster of provinces that declared a state of calamity due to the aftermath of Typhoon Carina and Habagat.

The declaration was contained in Provincial Resolution 2024-07-330.

The provincial government of Ilocos Norte said that as of July 29, 2024, Super Typhoon “Carina” affected over 140,000 Ilokanos and has already caused an estimated damage amounting to Php 1,011,405,521.51.

Under a state of calamity, a particular locality can utilize its quick response funds and impose price freeze on basic commodities. 

Metro Manila, Bataan, Bulacan, Batangas and Cavite have earlier declared a state of calamity.
