MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Justice will make sure everyone who had taken a part in the escape of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo will face accountability before the law, Justice Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez said on Tuesday.

Gutierrez said Justice Secretary Boying Remulla has already ordered an investigation into the alleged departure of the ex-mayor.

“Siniguro ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla na mananagot ang lahat ng nagpabaya at hinayaang ilegal na makaalis ng bansa si dating Bamban Mayor Alice Guo,” Gutierrez said in a Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon briefing.

“Kaugnay nito, ipinag-utos ni Secretary Remulla ang isang malalimang imbestigasyon tungkol sa umanoy pag-alis ni Guo ng bansa,” she said.

The DOJ, Gutierrez said, is also looking at the possibility of Guo’s lawyers having an involvement in her departure from the country.

Stephen David, Guo’s legal counsel, said Guo, whom he was still in active communication with, has assured him that she was still “100% in the country.”

Sen. Risa Hontiveros has said that Guo, missing for months, with pending criminal cases and a Senate arrest warrant, left the country on July 18.

Quoting documents provided by her sources, the ex-mayor boarded a plane to Malaysia and sneaked to Singapore to meet with her family.

Immigration reports said that Guo has been sighted in Indonesia as well.
