MANILA, Philippines – A dead human fetus was found in a toilet room at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 in Pasay City, airport police reported Wednesday.

Initial reports of the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) said the fetus was discovered by a cleaner routine garbage collection in female restrooms in the east departure restroom of NAIA Terminal 1 on Tuesday afternoon.

Further inspection revealed a fetus wrapped in blood-soaked tissue in a garbage bin inside one of the cubicles.

Upon inspection of the Manila International Airport Authority’s (MIAA) Airport Police Department (APD) and the MIAA Medical Team, it was confirmed that what was discovered was a one-month old fetus.

The fetus was brought to NAIA Police Station 1 for appropriate action and disposition while the Scene of the Crime Operatives conducted a forensic investigation.

Authorities are working to identify and locate the mother who could possibly face charges relating to abortion.
