MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm Enteng slightly weakened upon hitting the Cordillera mountains and Cagayan Valley but is expected to gain strength again once it reaches the West  Philippine Sea, state weather bureau PAGASA said Tuesday. 

As per PAGASA’s 8 AM weather bulletin, the center of Tropical Storm ENTENG was estimated based on all available data over the coastal waters of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte packing 75 km/h of wind near the center, gusts of up to 115 km/h and central pressure of 994 hPa. 

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) Number 2 is still up in the following areas:

*Ilocos Norte;

*Northern portion of Ilocos Sur (Sinait, Cabugao, San Juan, Magsingal, Santo Domingo, San Ildefonso, San Vicente, Santa Catalina, City of Vigan, Bantay, Santa, Caoayan);

*Apayao;

*Abra, 

*Northern and western portions of Kalinga (Balbalan, Pinukpuk, Lubuagan, Pasil);

*Western portion of Mainland Cagayan (Piat, Santo Nino, Camalaniugan, Tuao, Pamplona, Rizal, Claveria, Lasam, Aparri, Ballesteros, Abulug, Allacapan, Sanchez-Mira, Santa Praxedes) including Babuyan Islands (Dalupiri Is. and Fuga Is.)

TWCS 1: 

*Rest of Ilocos Sur, the northern portion of La Union (Luna, Santol, San Juan, Bagulin, Bangar, San Gabriel, Bacnotan, Sudipen, Balaoan, City of San Fernando), 

*Rest of Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, the northern portion of Benguet (Mankayan, Kapangan, Atok, Kabayan, Kibungan, Bakun, Buguias)

*Batanes, 

*Rest of Mainland Cagayan

*Rest of Babuyan Islands,

Enteng is forecast to reach severe tropical storm by this afternoon (at the earliest) or evening and typhoon category by Thursday (5 September).
