CEBU, Philippines – CEBU Police investigated a viral video showing puppies being fed to a python uploaded by a certain Emma Pepito who was believed to be from Carmen City. It was found out that the woman was not a resident and that no incident of animal cruelty is happening in the city.
In a statement released, Pulisya Carmen Cppo said it “conducted an investigation on the alleged involvement of a name Emma Pepito, said to be a snake keeper, for animal cruelty in which Carmen, Cebu was also tagged on a social media post.”
Their initial investigation revealed that the woman named “Emma Pepito is not a resident of Carmen Cebu.” Also, the alleged places of incidents were also checked in coordination with Barangay Captains as well as the locals which proved “no incident transpired.”
Authorities in Cebu are now tracing the digital footprints of the video.
Animal rights group Island Rescue Organization said they are working closely in addressing concerning reports about an alleged feeding of adopted puppies to a snake in Carmen.
“We emphasize the importance of caution when placing cats and dogs for adoption. A thorough adoption process must be imposed to ensure the welfare of these animals.This is one act of animal cruelty, feeding live animals,” it said.
