It wasn’t quite a happenstance.

Various reactions surfaced on social media when Bimby Aquino and older brother Joshua, sons of actress-TV host Kris Aquino, met up with an unlikely friend, First Lady Liza Marcos.

On Facebook, the First Lady uploaded a photo showing herself all smiles with Kris’ kids. She sealed the post with the caption “Thank you Bimby and Josh for dropping by.  It was so nice to see you guys after all these years. FL office, Manila | 9 July 2024.”

On Instagram, the First Lady posted more photos of them altogether. In one photo, the president’s wife thanked the brothers for their “pasalubong” for her.

The photo of the gift showed Mrs. Marcos and Bimby holding an opened box. The former did not disclose however what was inside.

The post gained mixed reactions from the online community. Most netizens were delighted to see representatives from the long warring political clans finally get cozy with each other.

Some saw it only as bait.

This however was not the first time the Aquinos and the Marcoses had an encounter.

In 1995, Kris herself had an interview with then Ilocos Norte 2nd District representative Bong Bong Marcos in the defunct talk show Actually…’Yun Na! aired on RPN-9.

Fast forward to 2022, he would become the country’s 17th president.

Also, during the wake of former President Cory Aquino, the strongman’s namesake, together with his older sister Sen. Imee paid their last respects to the democracy icon who led a historic revolt against their father that forced them to live in exile.

The entire Filipino nation is witness to the decades-long political feud of the Marcoses and Aquinos that constituted a big part of Philippine history.

Then Sen. Ninoy Aquino fought to  dismantle martial law.

The murder of the former senator was pointed by many to the dictator but to this day was never resolved.
