MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Angara officially took over the helm of the Department of Education on Thursday from its former chief, Vice President Sara Duterte who resigned the post in June.

During a turnover ceremony at the DepEd complex in Pasig City, the Vice President handed over the agency’s seal of flag to Angara.

The senator paid respect to what the former chief as well as outgoing DepEd officials have started and promised to continue on from their initiatives.

“We will build from what you have already started,” he told Duterte.

Duterte quit the Marcos Cabinet following soured relations of the two powerful political clans ahead of the 2025 polls.

The former DepEd chief did not give any reason why she quitted. The President likewise did not disclose details regarding Duterte’s withdrawal from the post.
