MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health on Friday has imposed a price freeze on medicines soon after Metro Manila has been placed under a state of calamity due to damage caused by disastrous floods brought by typhoon-enhanced rains over the week.
Under a state of calamity, the government is allowed to use its quick response funds to respond to the effects of the widespread flooding. A price freeze on all basic goods and commodities are also in effect.
Price freeze is in effect in Metro Manila, Batangas, Cainta – Rizal, Cavite, Pinamalayan – Oriental Mindoro, Bataan and Bulacan.
The DOH highly encourages the public to report any incidence of overpricing at the time of calamity.
