MANILA, Philippines — Three roads in Luzon have remained closed this time due to the onslaught of Typhoon Enteng while roads going to Bicol Region have limited access due to flooding, the Department of Public Works and Highways said.

As of Tuesday, September 3, 2023, one road in Central Luzon is still closed, while two roads in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Bicol Region have limited access due to flooding.

According to Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, a section of Nueva Ecija-Aurora Road in Barangay Labi, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija remains closed.

Motorists are advised to use Rizal-Pantabangan Road as an alternative until the flooding improves, it said.

In the NCR and Bicol Region, only heavy vehicles can use Sumulong Highway in Marikina City and EPZA By-Pass (Baraso Country Road) in Barangay Baseco, Mariveles, Bataan, as these roads are still affected by floods.

The DPWH has deployed 1,731 pieces of equipment and 7,105 personnel to manage the situation while Quick Response Teams have put up warning signs and traffic devices along the affected areas, the report said.

Since September 2, 2024, the DPWH said it has cleared and reopened nine road sections in CAR, Regions 2, 4A, 5, and 8.

Typhoon Enteng is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday morning. However, scattered rainfall is still expected in several areas due to the southwest monsoon, also known as habagat.
